Elmo Cake

Well - here it is... my Elmo birthday cake!

I love how this cake turned out:)

It was a labour of love to be sure...I had to bake the top part 6 times before I got it right!!

The Elmo is made of the Wiltons 3D Cuddly Bear pan. What an experience that was. BUT - once I got it right everything just fell into place.

I am looking forward to using this pan again in the future and am thinking of getting the smaller bear pan aswell:)

Coming up REAL soon.....

So, I have a few cakes on the go right now.... soooo looking forward to sharing them with you!
Pictures will come in the next couple of days ....

I was asked to do an "Under the Sea" themed cake for a co-workers daughters birthday.
This is such a CUTE idea. Nothing Disney realted (with ariel or anything like that) but creatures that live in the sea relate really well in fondant! At first I was a little frustrated with what exactly to do for the cake. And then, like and electric storm in my brain the ideas started flashing - full speed. Now, I would never claim to be an artist of any sort but once I just let go of how "perfect" everything "had" to be....everything just turned out, well, perfect!

I was at a bit of a loss at how to put together these critters. Obviously I was going to use fondant for them - that is really just the best way I know to express the cute-ness:) I got an idea! Fondant is really very much like Play-Doh, just edible..... seriously, check out www.hasbro.com/playdoh
They will give you step-by-step instructions on how to put together neet little things with Play-doh. Just use fondant instead and you are off to the races! I am soooo happy I discovered this:)

Anyways, I am definately going to have to put up some pictures of my little "Under the Sea" creatures for you all to see. They are adorable!

I am going to try to add some pictures tonight! YEAH critters:)
